Sebastiaan Bornauw shares his first impressions of Leeds United teammates during 'tough time'

Leeds United’s players are being put through their paces at the moment as Daniel Farke prepares his side ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, and Sebastiaan Bornauw has been speaking.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash against Manchester United at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm, Farke and his coaching staff have been putting the Leeds squad under an intense fitness regime and even, a bleep test.

Sam Byram and Joel Piroe were the winners of the bleep test, with Dutch striker Piroe a surprise winner. Perhaps a sign that he is desperate to retain his place in the starting XI ahead of the Premier League term.

New signings Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol, Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Gudmundsson have all been working hard with the quartet expected to feature on Saturday. Bijol and Gudmundsson may even start.

Sebastiaan Bornauw shares thoughts on his new teammates

Arriving for £5m from Wolfsburg and immediately reuniting with Nmecha, Belgium international Bornauw comes in for Max Wober as cover for starting options Joe Rodon and Bijol. It has been long in the making.

Bornauw says Leeds have shown interest since January, while Farke actually wanted to sign Bornauw while Norwich manager. After signing a four-year deal, he told LUTV of his first impressions of his teammates.

“The guys are really nice, everyone’s nice. We have a really good group, great time. Working hard. They say Germans work hard, but Germans abroad work even harder. Tough time, but I think it’s good.”

Which players could Leeds add to the squad before Saturday?

The trip to Sweden to face Ruben Amorim’s side is the first of three scheduled friendlies this summer, with Leeds also facing La Liga side Villarreal and then Italian giants AC Milan at The Aviva Stadium.

As things stand, Leeds do not seem particularly close to any new signings. A third offer for Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff was rejected, while talks have been held for Anton Stach and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

This week, Leeds have been linked with a move for Olympiacos playmaker Yusuf Yazici who is fit again after a year on the sidelines thanks to an ACL injury. But right now, Leeds are not close to any signings.
