Paris Saint-Germain center-back Lucas Beraldo has formally submitted a transfer request, according to L’Equipe, following PSG’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, who joined the French champions from Sao Paulo for €20 million in January 2024, is reportedly seeking more consistent playing time in Europe as he eyes a spot in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Though Beraldo featured prominently in PSG’s successful Champions League campaign — even deputising effectively for Marquinhos and Willian Pacho — he remains third in the pecking order under Luis Enrique.
The Parisians were surprised by his request but have agreed to consider a sale, contingent upon two conditions: the arrival of Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi and a transfer fee in the region of €30 million (£26m).
The Reds are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. Liverpool were heavily linked with Beraldo during his Sao Paulo days in 2023, but were ultimately beaten to the signing by PSG.

PSG star demands exit — Liverpool lurking
With the club having now sold Jarell Quansah, they are left with just three senior centre-backs — Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez — heading into the new season.
Arne Slot’s selection in Liverpool’s pre-season opener against Preston underlined the depth issue. The manager was forced to deploy Andy Robertson at centre-back alongside academy players Luca Stephenson and Amara Nallo.
Though Robertson held his own, the club remains intent on adding a natural defender this window.
Liverpool have been scouting several young options, including Parma’s Giovanni Leoni. However, Beraldo, a left-footed centre-back with elite European experience and proven pedigree, may now be back on their radar.

His relatively modest release valuation and previous admiration from Liverpool’s recruitment team could make him a realistic target.
That said, Liverpool would need to convince Beraldo of his long-term prospects at Anfield, especially given Konate and Van Dijk’s current stronghold on the starting XI.
However, with Konate’s contract running down and speculation around his future, Beraldo could be groomed as the club’s next defensive pillar.
If PSG complete the signing of Zabarnyi, expect movement quickly — and Liverpool could well be at the front of the queue.
