Slavia’s Diouf Joins West Ham in Czech League Record Transfer

**Slavia Prague defender Malick Diouf is set to join West Ham after the two clubs reached an agreement, according to the Czech club’s sporting director Jiri Bilek.**

Diouf has been attracting the attention of foreign clubs for a long time, with Crystal Palace reportedly keen in January, but failing to reach an agreement with Slavia.

The Senegal international now looks set for a move to the Premier League with West Ham in what could be the **most expensive outgoing transfer from the Czech league.**

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, West Ham will pay €22 million, plus conditional add-ons.

“We can confirm that El Hadji Malick Diouf has been at the training ground and the medical facilities all day,” stated a West Ham representative.

“He has done some of the media work and will be finishing it off this afternoon. This should mean that if all goes to plan he will be confirmed as a West Ham player either this evening or within the coming days.

The Senegal international scored seven goals in **27 league games** last season from defence, contributing significantly to winning the title and qualifying for the Champions League.

Diouf, who can play as a full-back and a winger, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season as he scored seven and assisted **four goals in 41 appearances.**

Slavia Prague manager **Jindrich Trpisovsky** has said of Diouf: “He’s a player with extraordinary qualities, and he will have them for the future.”
