Georgios Vagiannidis is on Everton’s radar as David Moyes looks to end his issues at right-back.
Everton had been pursuing Kenny Tete, but this ended in vain when the Dutchman signed a new deal with Fulham.
As a result, Vagiannidis is being eyed by Everton as a potential alternative. The full-back has impressed in Greece for Panathinaikos despite being just 23 years old.
Now, the race to win the right-back’s signature has taken yet another twist.

However, according to reports, Wolves are now the frontrunners in the race for the defender.
Prasinoforos (14 July) has claimed that the Old Gold are ready to submit an official offer for the right-back in the coming days.
Vagiannidis “dreams of the Premier League”, which gives Wolves and Everton an advantage over Sporting, with the former club the quickest to react.

However, Panathinaikos are not currently willing to negotiate. The Greek side have UEFA Champions League qualifiers coming up against Rangers, and view these matches as a priority.
Therefore, the Greens are not willing to sell one of their biggest stars before such a pivotal tie.
Panathinaikos are under no pressure to sell. However, a sale may depend on both the persistence of Wolves or Everton, and the Greek side’s progress in the qualifiers.

Everton should be embarrassed if they lose out to Wolves
It is clear that a new right-back is one of Moyes’ top priorities this summer. Therefore, if Everton miss out on yet another target to Wolves, it is nothing short of embarrassing.
Moving to the Toffees should be exciting this summer, given the project at the Merseyside club as well as their impending arrival at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
In comparison, a team like Wolves has been on the decline for years. Therefore, questions have to be asked if the Old Gold sign Vagiannidis despite Everton’s interest.
