Daniel James has signed a new four-year contract at Leeds United, keeping him on the books at Elland Road until 2029.
The winger only had 12 months left on his previous contract and so club chiefs were keen to tie the 27-year-old down to a longer deal. Last season, James became the first Welshman to score double figures for Leeds in consecutive seasons since the great John Charles nearly 70 years ago.
The attacker was named the Player of the Season at the club’s awards ceremony in May following a fan vote, having been one of the three candidates shortlisted for the Championship player of the season.
James has amassed 123 appearances for the Whites since arriving from Manchester United in 2021, recording 29 goals and registering 22 assists. He ended last season with 12 goals and nine assists, after starting 30 of his 36 league outings.
James looks set to be a key player in Daniel Farke's team next season and a new contract was one of the club’s key contract objectives this summer.
His contract agreement marks the second renewal of the summer, with Sam Byram extending his stay at Elland Road last week having signed a one-year deal.
Meanwhile, James Debayo is currently a free agent having not yet penned the new terms offered to him.
