**ATLANTA |** Lane Kiffin took a laughable hypothetical about Nick Saban and turned it into a prediction.
Kiffin, speaking exclusively with Ole Miss beat reporters in a small press huddle at SEC Media Days, said he doesn't think the former Alabama head coach will stay in retirement.
The question that sparked the response asked if Kiffin would consider hiring Saban should the current ESPN personality decide to take a non-head-coach role at the college level. It's close to impossible to see Saban working for Kiffin, but the former Saban assistant threw this out there.
"I don't think he's done," Kiffin said. "You didn't really ask that. But I don't think he's done. He'll be back. Whether that's college or the NFL; I think he will be back."
Saban turns 74 years old later this year and won seven national titles – including six at Alabama.
Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy said on his radio show, ["Mac and Cube,"](https://omny.fm/shows/mcelroy-and-cubelic-in-the-morning/7-14-25-mcelroy-cubelic-in-the-morning-hour-1-day-1-at-sec-media-days-garrett-nussmeier-dq-smith-paul-finebaum) on Monday that he believes Saban will coach again.
"A very much in the know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around, and just really, really admire -- they seem to think Nick Saban is not done coaching," McElroy said. "He's pretty adamant that he thinks Nick Saban will be coaching again."
Kiffin was Saban's offensive coordinator at Alabama from 2014-2016. He'll soon start his sixth season at Ole Miss. The Rebels have won 10 or more games three of the last four seasons.
