£5m Leeds United player set to be the next to leave Elland Road after Max Wober - journalist

So far this summer, Leeds United have sanctioned the exits of four players, including Max Wober’s loan to Werder Bremen.

Rasmus Kristensen left Leeds United permanently, and both Junior Firpo and Josuha Guilavogui have been released. Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell saw their loans expire, too.

More will follow as Paraag Marathe has already confirmed Leeds’ need for sales this summer. With 10 names outlined as potential Leeds exits already, but there could well be more who are considered in order to create PSR headroom.

Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood, and Joe Gelhardt will not feature in the coming season if they remain, with each up for sale if the right offer comes in. One could even be in line for an exit sooner rather than later.

Darko Gyabi set for Leeds exit but not permanently

Wober’s exit may have helped Leeds in a PSR sense and in creating room in the wage budget, but there remains plenty to do outside of his exit.

Gyabi confirmed he is back at Leeds and in pre-season training once again recently. However, the giant 6’5″ midfielder has no future at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke not fancying Gyabi over the last couple of Championship seasons.

He has enjoyed two productive loan spells with Plymouth Argyle, where he won the Young Player of the Season award in his second stint with the club.

The 21-year-old has developed well over the last few years, but he is into the final 12 months of his deal in West Yorkshire after Gyabi penned a four-year deal following a £5 million move from Man City (The Yorkshire Evening Post).

Therefore, most would expect a permanent exit for Gyabi, given the fact his PSR value would be £1.25 million. That doesn’t look likely to be the case this summer, unfortunately for Leeds. In a shock twist, he could be set for another loan.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke explains that Gyabi is a loan target for a number of Championship and French clubs in this summer’s transfer window.

A loan, like with Wober, will get Gyabi’s inflated wage off the books. The contracts Victor Orta handed out to players in that era perhaps explain why Leeds feel loaning is easier than selling.

Gyabi is symptomatic of the issues the 49ers are dealing with regarding a number of contracts and players this summer.

Will Jack Harrison join Darko Gyabi out of the Leeds exit door?

It’s been reported previously byLeeds United News, in an exclusive, that Leeds could yet retain Jack Harrison this summer and reintegrate him into the first-team.

With the winger having a contract until 2028 at Elland Road, Leeds have a ‘problem’ with Harrison. However, more recently, David Moyes is ‘toying’ with the idea of Harrison returning to Everton after two loans.

He is currently training ahead of the Man United pre-season game this weekend, but his involvement beyond pre-season is not abundantly clear, even if it is expected that Harrison leaves at some stage in this window.

According to our latest information from sources, Harrison has been told by Leeds to look elsewhere this summer, with his future in West Yorkshire not looking lie being particularly positive.

Harrison is a PSR issue for Leeds to overcome, though. It would not be at all surprising if he joins Gyabi and Wober in being loaned once again this window.
