Arsenal transfer for Viktor Gyokeres 'at risk of full collapse' after new demand

Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres is in danger of collapsing due to the structure of the transfer fee add-ons. The Gunner have been chasing the striker’s signature all summer after he bagged 54 goals and 52 games for Sporting last season.

Arsenal are in desperate need of firepower in front of goal after lacking a cutting edge in the final third last season. Mikel Arteta’s side had been expected to launch an assault on the Premier League title but fell away during the second part of the campaign as they ultimately finished 10 points behind champions Liverpool. And Gyokeres could prove to be the missing piece of the puzzle if Arsenal can get a deal over the line ahead of the new campaign.

According to Portuguese publication Record, Arsenal and Gyokeres’ agent presented a deal to Sporting during a meeting between the three parties on Monday.

The deal guaranteed the 22-year-old current team a fixed transfer fee of just under £61million, plus just over £8.5m in bonuses.

However, there was a disagreement over the add-ons as Sporting want that part of the payment structure to be easily achieved, while Arsenal are resisting the request. And talks are said to have reached a dead end.
