Real Madrid re-sign Carreras from Benfica

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Álvaro Carreras from Portuguese side Benfica.

He rejoins the Spanish giants in a deal worth €50 million.

The 22-year-old Spanish youth international was previously part of Real Madrid’s academy before joining Manchester United in 2020.

He did not make any appearances for the English club and spent time on loan at Preston, Granada, and then Benfica.

The Lisbon outfit exercised their obligation to buy, and he joined the club permanently in 2024.

He made 32 Primeira Liga appearances, scoring five goals to help them finish second.

He has signed a six-year contract. Former club Manchester United are set to receive up to 20% on anything above how much Benfica paid for Carreras.
