Former Ohio State star Garrett Wilson has had a remarkable start to his NFL career. The fourth-year pro has become one of the top young wide receivers in the league, and now he's getting paid like a leading player at the position.
According to ESPN's senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Wilson has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the New York Jets, securing him with the team through the 2030 season. The deal, as Schefter reports, is valued at $130 million, with $90 million guaranteed.
The deal, according to Schefter, sets a record in NFL history as the first time a receiver has averaged over $31 million after just three seasons. Wilson will be the sixth-highest-paid wide receiver annually, behind Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown.

After starring for the Buckeyes for three seasons, Wilson was selected No. 10 overall by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, with 83 receptions for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns — both franchise rookie records — and earned a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Wilson's impressive debut season earned him AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team in 2022.
Wilson continued his strong play in 2023, starting all 17 games and finishing with 95 catches, 1,042 yards, and three touchdowns. He also switched his jersey number from 17 to 5 in early 2024, returning to the number he wore for the Scarlet and Gray.
Last season, Wilson set new career highs by catching 101 passes for 1,104 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. He earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 9 after a game with nine catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Over his first three seasons, Wilson has compiled 279 receptions for 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns, showing consistency and durability. In April, the Jets exercised his fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through the 2026 season before finalizing this deal.
