The Boston Red Sox are among the top contenders to win the World Series in 2025.
I don’t think there are many people who would have believed that a couple of weeks ago, but the club’s torrid stretch heading into the 2025 MLB All-Star Game has folks starting to believe — including ESPN’s Jeff Passan and The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
Boston rattled off three consecutive series sweeps prior to the break, steamrolling the Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays to firmly entrench themselves as postseason favorites in the American League.
It’s been an impressive enough stretch for some of the league’s most respected insiders to believe they’ll not only make it to the postseason, but thrive there.
“They are a team that, frankly, might be in the World Series if they make the right moves,” Rosenthal said on Monday’s episode of “Foul Territory.”

“The Red Sox have been incredibly talented team the whole time,” Passan said in his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “… The Boston Red Sox are legitimate World Series contenders.”
I can say all I want about the club being legitimate contenders, but those words carry a lot more weight from those guys, huh?
The Red Sox have a long way to go before the general public views them in that light, however. Alex Bregman’s recent return should continue to pay dividends on the offensive side, but there likely will need to be some sort of deadline addition(s) to the pitching staff if they hope to stay ahead of the curve.
It’ll be an interesting summer, for sure.
