Former Jets loudmouth brushes off kid he ‘almost’ hit in golf tournament

Former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a man of the people.

Participating in the American Century celebrity golf tournament in Nevada this past weekend, Rodgers enjoyed several wholesome moments with young fans.

He invited a couple of young fans to walk with him between holes, accepted and wore a friendship bracelet from another fan, and signed autographs for an excited birthday boy, among other moments.

Then, there was a moment that resembled a Will Ferrell and Adam McKay collaboration, where the main character embraces his villainy — and it’s pure cringeworthy comedy.

Looking for his ball after a bad shot, a kid can be heard saying, “You almost hit me, Aaron Rodgers.”

“Almost doesn’t count,” Rodgers replied dryly, holding a red drink in one hand and a golf club in the other.

Last week, Rodgers was seen in a viral video refusing to sign an autograph for a particular fan.

While signing an assortment of memorabilia from fans, Rodgers engages in a conversation with fan he refers to as an “autograph hound,” who is offscreen. The fan appeared to want a ticket signed by the quarterback, but couldn’t answer questions about the game involving Rodgers.

“You could look it up, though,” Rodgers says, via X/Twitter. “Then I would believe you and sign your thing. But since I don’t believe you, I’m not going to sign it.”

After a pair of tumultuous seasons with the Jets, including 2023, when he tore his Achilles tendon four snaps into Game 1 of the season, Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason.

He is expected to report to Steelers training camp on July 24.
