Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been suspended from his head-coaching gig at his high school alma mater.
According ESPN, Bridgewater was punished by Miami Northwestern High School for allegedly giving impermissible benefits to his players. Bridgewater won a state title in his first year as the head coach in 2024.
Among the impermissible benefits Bridgewater provided were Uber rides, meals and recovery services for his players, all of which is admirable for him to do.
Bridgewater openly admitted to all of that in a Facebook post earlier this month in which he was seeking donations to help fund the team.
"The suspension came from MNW and it's impossible to suspend someone who doesn't work for you," he wrote on Facebook. "So if I'm suspended from MNW im free to go to another school of my choice but IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE."
A former first-round pick in the NFL, Bridgewater appeared in games with six different teams during his career, including the Detroit Lions, who he returned to late in 2024 to serve as the backup quarterback after his impressive state title run at Miami Northwestern.
Bridgewater also played for the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins. He has one Pro Bowl appearance during his career, which came in 2015.
