Jordan Walsh ejected from Boston Celtics Summer League game vs. Heat

LAS VEGAS — Jordan Walsh was midway through a stellar Summer League game leading the Celtics, but his night got an early exit. Walsh was ejected with 3:34 left in the second quarter of the Celtics’ game against the Heat on Monday after a hard foul on the Heat’s Pelle Larsson.

The altercation started when Walsh fouled then shoved Larsson that resulted in Larsson falling into the first row full of Celtics executives. Larsson took exception to the foul and confronted Walsh as tensions rose. Walsh then gave the Heat wing another push right in front of the officials. Eventually, that led to Walsh’s ejection as he picked up his second technical foul of the game.

Walsh also exchanged words with Heat guard Erik Stevenson before being escorted off the court by Celtics personnel.

Walsh had been playing his best game to date during Summer League prior to his ejection. He led all scorers with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field in his 10 minutes of action.

The third-year wing is in the midst of a critical summer with his contract not fully guaranteed for next season. He had averaged 15 points per game in Boston’s first two games in Las Vegas but was only shooting 36.4 percent from the field.

The Celtics drafted Walsh with the No. 38 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and he has appeared in 486 minutes for Boston over the past two seasons, posting career averages of 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
