Whenever an NFL player crosses the wrong side of being 30 years old, inevitable questions about longevity and playing days will arise.
This isn't exactly news for San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, whose nine consecutive Pro Bowls rank second in the league only behind the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end, Travis Kelce (10).
Juszczyk, 34 years old, already endured a tumultuous offseason in which the Niners released him as a cap casualty, only to bring him back a few days later on a brand new deal that'll last two years and earn him up to $8 million.
Back when Juszczyk spoke with the Niner Noise Podcast, he admitted that leaving the East Coast to join what was then a rebuilding San Francisco squad under head coach Kyle Shanahan in 2017 was tough.
Now, though, "Juice" has found his footing in Northern California and considers it home.
But, how long will things stay that way? And when will the veteran fullback finally call it a career?
Kyle Juszczyk drops hint on when he'll retire
Speaking with NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco from the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Juszczyk opened up about how much time he foresees himself playing.
Thankfully, nothing is imminent.
"I can’t give a definitive answer because I still feel so well, and I feel like I’m playing well," Juszczyk said. "So, I’m just going to keep riding it out and go season by season. I know I got at least two because I’m locked up for two. I’m really excited about that."
For now, it sounds as if the perennial Pro Bowler has no plans of calling it quits over the next two years, allowing the remainder of his deal in San Francisco to play itself out before his next decision surfaces.
"After that, we’ll play it by ear," Juszczyk continued. "Hopefully I’ve got a couple more after that, but we’ll see."
Judging by those comments, Juice is aiming to play four more seasons, which means he'll be 38 years old, nearly ancient for a blocking and ball-carrying offensive playmaker.
That said, it's a lofty and worthwhile goal.
