The winner of the 29th Czech Golden Ball, awarded by the Sports Journalists’ Club, will be announced in Prague today. West Ham midfielder and Czech national team captain Tomáš Souček leads the race after the autumn round of voting and could claim the trophy for the fifth time, and third in a row. In the all-time ranking, he trails Pavel Nedvěd and record-holder Petr Čech. However, competition is closer this year, with Slavia’s Lukáš Provod just two points behind Souček, and Plzeň’s Pavel Šulc also within striking distance.
