Everton are moving at a steady pace in the transfer market as they prepare for a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Many thought it would be a summer of seismic spending for the Merseyside club, but that narrative has not unfolded just yet.

Everton are closing in on a deal for Mark Travers, who would become their third acquisition of the window.

Now, the Toffees have reached a crucial day in their pursuit of FC Porto right winger Francisco Conceicao.

Travers is not expected to face any issues when he undergoes his Everton medical and will provide competition for Jordan Pickford.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees have already landed Thierno Barry and Carlos Alcaraz as they gradually build a squad for the new Premier League season.

Now, there has been news out of Portugal concerning another player David Moyes’ side have been targeting – Conceicao.

Conceicao is a Porto player, but spent last season on loan with Juventus, where he made 37 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old will only leave the Portuguese giants if a club beats the deadline set today (15 July), set at £26.07million, according to A Bola (14 July).

The Portuguese outlet states that, so far, Everton are the only club willing to reach that figure.

However, the winger has refused to go to the Premier League outfit and will give priority to Juventus.

Therefore, today will be a decisive day to see if the Serie A club really has the required £26.07million to activate the transfer.

The Old Lady are yet to make an offer and the clause will rise to £39.11million tomorrow (16 July).

Toffees have plenty of business to do in transfer market

While there are roughly five weeks to go before the new season, Everton still need to do a great deal of business.

The Merseyside club lost no fewer than eight players earlier in the summer and have many holes to plug.

As it stands, Moyes only has three natural centre backs and simply must flesh out that area of the pitch.

Moreover, Vitaliy Myklonenko is the sole option at left back, while there are no natural right wingers at all in the squad.

Although there is significant time to acquire targets, Moyes will want them raring to go for the opener against Leeds United.
