Gyokeres to Arsenal Deal in Doubt

Arsenal are chasing the Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres. But, it has hit a major blow and could soon fall apart.

Negotiations For The Move of Gyokeres to Arsenal Have Hit a Wall Over Add-Ons

PL giants Arsenal are pushing hard to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer. But, it has taken a huge hit, with reports from Portugal suggesting the deal could be off entirely.

The Gunners have been tracking the Swedish forward all summer. They were hoping to make him a key part of their attack for the coming season. However, their latest offer of €70m upfront, along with €10m in add-ons, hasn’t gone down well with Sporting.

The Portuguese side reportedly are not agreeing on the bonus clauses in the deal. They think the clauses aren’t realistic or easy enough to trigger. So, that has caused talks to go on hold at the moment. There’s no fresh breakthrough since Monday. Discussions are said to have reached a dead end, the move now hangs in serious doubt.

Sporting Standing Firm on Demands

Sporting are holding strong on their demands. They want any potential deal to realize Gyokeres’ true value as he’s one of their better players. So, they aren’t prepared to let him leave without compensation that they’ve agreed.

Arsenal have said they won’t go too far beyond where they already are. In the meantime, there may be a chance to bring the transfer back on track. That will only happen if either side can change their stance but this appears unlikely at the moment.

If things don’t change, the Gunners should look for a striker elsewhere. Pre-season has been ongoing for a while now and Mikel Arteta will want to add to his squad quickly. The Gunners have a serious issue on their hands. As it stands, the chances of seeing Gyokeres in red and white next season are fading by the day.
