Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says Noni Madueke made the decision to leave Chelsea this summer window after the winger agreed to make the move across London and join ARSENAL in a deal worth around £50 million.
After missing out on that Premier League title once again last season, Mikel Arteta has got the backing from the board this transfer window and added players to the side that could really make a difference next season.
It has been revealed in recent days that Maduake has agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal and that the Gunners are expected to pay around the £50 million mark to secure the signing of Noni Maduake.
Asked for his reaction to the news after the winger decided to leave Chelsea – Maresca recently explained the 23-year-old has not been pushed out the door: “Noni is in contact with the new club and I guess he is going to be [announced] in the next hours,” Maresca said.
“Selling him to a rival? If players want to leave then it is difficult for the club and the manager.”
“Noni decided to leave. Nobody told Noni he had to leave. If he is happy, we are happy.”
Former ARSENAL star Sol Campbell recently opened up and claimed that believes Madueke has the qualities to thrive at Arsenal but appreciates the concerns among the Arsenal faithful: ‘I’ve seen him play, and he’s a very dynamic, keep-going kind of player that can cause problems when he gets into the final third,’ Campbell told Metro, courtesy of BetSelect.
‘I think most people are probably thinking, “Do we need him?”. He’s a quality player, but I think the club needs to explain why they’re getting certain players in and how it’s going to fit into our system.
‘It’s important to explain that to the players and the fans.’
