Villains ready to finalise deal for colossus defender who is 'a quiet force', personal terms…

Aston Villa are hot on the heels of another prospect after closing a deal for Zepiqueno Redmond. The Villains are trying to sign Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot.

Per Sacha Tavolieri, “Villa are now convinced by his potential and ready to finalise a deal as soon as they get the chance to submit an offer.

“Canvot keen on the move as personal terms are not expected to be an issue.”

The 18-year-old broke into the Toulouse starting XI last term, making 18 Ligue 1 appearances across the backline.

He is exceptionally versatile and can even fill in as a defensive midfielder.

The France Under-19 international defender helped Toulouse keep two clean sheets while winning 53% of his aerial and 43% of his ground duels.

Canvot is a physical unit and looks ready for top-flight football, even though remaining in France might be best for his development.

Dubbed a ‘colossus and a quiet force‘, he is a serious talent with ample room for improvement.

Canvot’s contract runs till 2029, and Toulouse reportedly value him at around €20 million.

Whether Villa will cough up such a steep sum for a player with only 12 top-flight starts in Ligue 1 remains to be seen.

Like Redmond, he might initially start with the Villa Under-21s before working his way into the first-team starting line-up.

Villa are surprisingly quiet this summer, despite closing a deal for goalkeeper Marco Bizot, but things could soon kick off in the transfer market.

Villa are battling hard to ward off interest in talisman Ollie Watkins and partner in crime Morgan Rogers, with big Premier League clubs sniffing around the pair.

Keeping those two will be a priority for the club, even though there have been rumours Villa are looking at Samu Aghehowa of FC Porto and Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

While those two are decent strikers, Villa must not let Watkins go for any reason.
