Tottenham News speaking to John Wenham

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has been linked with a move to Tottenham.
Grealish became the most expensive British player of all time when he joined Manchester City from Aston Villa for a reported £100million fee in 2021.
However, the playmaker has failed to match expectations and found himself on the outskirts of Pep Guardiola’s squad last season.
As a result, the Englishman is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium, with Tottenham mooted as a potential destination.

Grealish to Tottenham is a ‘non-starter’
As reported by The Sun (7 July), Manchester City are willing to accept £40million for Grealish as they look to offload the 29-year-old this summer.

Tottenham, who are on the hunt for a potential replacement for Son Heung-min, are reportedly monitoring the situation. Thomas Frank is known for getting the best out of his players and could help Grealish to revive his career.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs should steer clear of signing the Manchester City outcast this summer.
“Grealish for me is a non-starter,” Wenham said.
“He’s on huge money, he’s underperformed for several years, and I worry if he’s lost his hunger and appetite that got him to the success that he had.
“I haven’t seen that player for such a long period now, so I just worry if he can get that back, and I think the move to London could be quite distracting for him.
“I just think he’s one we should stay clear of, regardless of the price. He hasn’t got that hunger and appetite in him anymore. If you’re going to sign him, I’d much rather sign Eberechi Eze, for example.”

Tottenham should move on from Grealish
Grealish is not a player that Tottenham should be looking to sign this summer. Instead, the Lilywhites should move for someone such as Xavi Simons.
While Simons favours playing in midfield, the Dutchman is more than comfortable on the left wing. In addition, the RB Leipzig star is only 22 and would have several years to perform at the highest level.
Therefore, Daniel Levy should be jumping at the opportunity to sign him this summer, rather than an ageing, declining player, such as Grealish.
