Wolves have arrived in Portugal for Vitor Pereira’s first pre-season training camp as head coach.

The summer schedule began at Compton Park last week, and a 28-man squad have now headed to the Algarve.

Among them are several of the club’s international players, with Santiago Bueno, Matt Doherty, Hwang Hee-Chan, Pedro Lima, Jose Sa and Jorgen Strand Larsen all back.

Last season’s loanees, Tawanda Chirewa, Ki-Jana Hoever and Fabio Silva, are also involved, as are Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic and Yerson Mosquera.

New signing Fer Lopez is with the group, but Hugo Bueno and Rodrigo Gomes will link up after the trip due to their involvement at the Under-21 Euros.

Meanwhile, defender Nigel Lonwijk has signed a new contract before heading out on his sixth loan and third successive season in the third tier of English football.

The 22-year-old will spend the 2025/26 season on loan in League One with Luton, having spent time in the division with Huddersfield last year and Wycombe and Plymouth before that.

After now signing a one-year contract extension at Molineux, Lonwijk will try to help Luton bounce straight back following their relegation from the Championship.

Hatters manager Matt Bloomfield said: “We had Nige for a few months at the end of the season before last at Wycombe and he was fantastic.

“I tried to get him back last summer but we didn’t have as much money as Huddersfield, so I couldn’t get him, but he’s someone we think highly of.

“He’s got good versatility and can play anywhere in the back four or five, and has incredible athleticism, he’s really good on the ball and we’re really pleased to give him a home.”
