Brentford want to try and price interested clubs out of a move for Yoane Wissa, sources have told Football Insider.

Wissa, 28, has attracted attention from the likes of Tottenham and Nottingham Forest over the summer transfer window.

Forest have already had a £22million bid for the attacker rejected by the West London side.

Sources say that clubs will be forced to pay over £50million to secure the services of the DR Congo international.

Tottenham are yet to submit a formal offer for Wissa but the interest in him is intensifying.

Brentford hope that a price tag this high will deter offers for their star attacker and allow them to keep hold of him.

Brentford can’t afford to lose Wissa

Along with Bryan Mbeumo, Wissa was absolutely vital to Brentford’s impressive 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

The 28-year-old started 34 league games for the Bees, scoring 19 goals and picking up five assists as the West London side finished 10th.

However, Brentford lost manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham, and with Mbeumo also linked with a move away, it is more important than ever to hang onto Wissa.

Bees fans will be hopeful that their former boss doesn’t convince the Congolese forward to make the switch to North London.

Mbeumo set for Man United move

Meanwhile, Manchester United are confident that a deal to sign Mbeumo from Brentford will soon be agreed, sources have told Football Insider.

Mbeumo has been United’s top target in this summer’s transfer window since they completed the £62.5million signing of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, but they’re yet to meet Brentford’s similar asking price.

The 25-year-old’s transfer preferences have long since been made clear with Mbeumo establishing that he only wants to join Man United this summer, and a deal between the two clubs could soon be struck.
