On June 5th, Marca reported Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the picture to sign Christantus Uche. Brighton & Hove Albion have joined the duo in the race for the Getafe player.
That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of AS, and they state Leeds, Wolves and Brighton have ‘expressed genuine interest’ in the 22-year-old.
On Monday, Getafe travelled to Valencia for pre-season training and Uche wasn’t part of the group. The Nigeria international also didn’t train with his teammates last week.
The newspaper says he isn’t doing this to force a move but because the club have granted him permission to sort out his future. The attacking midfielder has a contract lasting until 2028, with an option for another year, and Getafe are requesting €15-20m.
He has offers from Italy, but his desire is to move to the Premier League. AS states Uche is expected to move to England where Leeds, Wolves and Brighton are his suitors.
The report makes no mention of his preference or who among the Premier League trio is leading the race.
Uche, who can also operate as a centre forward, left lower division Spanish side AD Ceuta FC to join the La Liga club in February 2024. AS state Ceuta will receive 12.5% of the profit from his future sale.
The Nigerian managed four goals and seven assists from 38 games last season.
