They say to never fall in love with a loan player, but that has been difficult for Leeds United supporters over the past 12 months as Manor Solomon played a key role in the club’s promotion.
When Leeds signed Solomon on loan from Tottenham last summer, there was a mixed reaction. Many were excited that the club had been able to beat clubs like Ajax in the race to sign the Tottenham winger.
But, there was concern. Leeds knew it was a risk when they signed Solomon. The winger had not played for almost a year after tearing his meniscus just six games into his Tottenham spell after signing in 2023.
It took a few months for Solomon to return to his best, somewhat indifferent in the first half of the 2024-25 season. But the second half saw Solomon play a hugely important role in Leeds winning promotion.
Solomon finished the season with 23 goals and assists, scoring the winner at Plymouth to secure the title and earning the love of Leeds fans. Supporters were desperate to see the club sign Solomon permanently.

Manor Solomon breaks silence after choosing Tottenham return
Solomon dropped numerous hints about a permanent move to Leeds if the club had won promotion. But having done that, Solomon has informed Tottenham he wants a second chance to shine in North London.
With a new manager and Champions League football on offer, Solomon is keen to catch Thomas Frank’s eye. But, Spurs have just pulled off a £50m-plus deal to sign Mohamed Kudus from rivals West Ham.
Despite that, Solomon has made his decision and that is to return to Tottenham rather than look for a permanent move to Leeds. He broke his silence regarding his return to Spurs on Instagram this week.

Leeds United have a Manor Solomon decision to make
Adam Underwood and the transfer team have a decision to make regarding Solomon. New Spurs boss Frank is keen to take a look at Solomon, but there is every chance he decides not to keep the winger.
Especially, with Kudus signed and Son Heung-min likely to stay despite interest in the Spurs captain. So, Spurs may end up choosing to sell and Leeds are said to be waiting in the wings to sign the Spurs man.
However, it is now a month until the opener on August 18 against Everton and Leeds need to decide if they are going to take a risk and wait for Solomon to possibly be available, or sign a replacement.
Leeds are said to have made a bid for Nice star Jeremie Boga, with Sunderland and Trabzonspor also interested in the Ivory Coast ace. One to watch but it seems like Solomon would rather stay at Spurs.
