Player moving to Newcastle United in mega-deal can see club sign Manchester City youngster

Newcastle United could help Eintracht Frankfurt sign Manchester City’s James McAtee this summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitiké is a target for Newcastle and the Magpies are working on a deal.

Bild state the Bundesliga club are demanding €100m for the striker – which they won’t get – and if he’s sold to Newcastle, they can use part of the funds to sign the Manchester City player.

Eintracht Frankfurt seem to be making progress in their efforts to sign McAtee. He made a trip to Frankfurt on Monday afternoon,to visit the German club’s stadium, dressing room, training facilities and their campus.

The report states the 22-year-old was there for several hours and had talks with Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director, Timmo Hardung, and their director of professional football, Pirmin Schwegler, regarding a possible transfer.

Another director, Markus Krösche, wasn’t at the club, but he’s been in regular contact with the attacking midfielder’s camp.

After the Euro U21 winner’s visit, Bild now report Eintracht Frankfurt have a ‘better chance’ of securing his services.

Pep Guardiola’s side are requesting €30m for McAtee and this is too high for the German club. They could afford to sign the Manchester City man if Newcastle or another club were to invest big on Ekitiké.
