Brighton are changing their minds on Evan Ferguson leaving permanently this summer with a loan now more likely, sources have told Football Insider.
Ferguson, 20, could make a switch to Roma from the Seagulls in order to revitalise his career at the top level.
However, sources say that Brighton are not rushing into a decision on the Ireland international’s long-term future after slashing Ferguson’s asking price to £28million.
The striker is currently more likely to make a loan move to Italy, with an option-to-buy clause inserted in the deal.

Ferguson wanted by Nottingham Forest, Everton and Fulham
Brighton completed the signing of young forward Stefanos Tzimas back in February, and the 19-year-old has now officially completed his move to the Amex.
This means that Ferguson has slipped even further down the pecking order on the south coast, with Fabian Hurzeler unlikely to have space in his squad for the Irishman.

He remains of strong interest to Premier League clubs including Nottingham Forest, Everton and Fulham.
Last season, the 20-year-old spent the second half of the campaign on loan at West Ham, but he made just one Premier League start and failed to score a single goal.
Now, it looks as if Ferguson is making another temporary move away from Brighton, which could become permanent depending on his performance level at Roma.

Rangers eye Brighton goalkeeper
Meanwhile, Rangers are accelerating their efforts to bring in a goalkeeper ahead of the new season, sources close to the club have told Football Insider.
Russell Martin’s side are interested in signing Brighton’s Carl Rushworth on a loan deal, as they look to address their shot-stopper issues.
Rushworth has been at the south coast side since 2019, completing loan spells at Walsall, Lincoln, Swansea, and Hull.
Rangers have just over a week until their Champions League qualifying campaign gets underway, as they face Panathinaikos on 22 July, and would like to add to their squad before that date.
