Man United could table their next offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo “this week”, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The journalist is usually reliable when it comes to transfer stories, and he thinks the battle for the Cameroon international’s signature could come to a head over the coming days:
“Manchester United remain optimistic of a deal to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. United are expected to make an improved offer soon, with one source claiming that it could come this week. Brentford are understood to want £65m.”

“It is thought the deal will come down to the structure and conditions, as United’s last offer was not far away in terms of total fee. Mbeumo wants to join United.”
Why has it taken so long for Man United to table another bid?
The Red Devils’ last proposal came exactly three weeks ago, when they offered £55m up front and another £7.5m in add-ons.
It is believed that Brentford are hoping to receive a higher fixed fee, and that could mean an initial offer in the region of £60m.
There isn’t exactly a huge gap to bridge, and you do have to question why Director of Football Jason Wilcox has taken so much time to return to the negotiating table.
Mbeumo is committed to moving to Old Trafford
As Sheth mentions, the 25-year-old has already made it clear that he wants to make the move to Manchester, so any potential hijack is not on the cards. Tottenham were said to be interested but their decision to sign West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus means they are no longer in the running.
It is now a waiting game to see whether United do actually make another formal approach for Mbeumo as Sheth predicts. Fans are very keen to get this deal over the line.
