Yoane Wissa remains of interest to Nottingham Forest as they try to replace Anthony Elanga, a task that is proving to be difficult for Edu and the recruitment team.
It looks as if the Reds have missed out on a primary replacement for Elanga, with Johan Bakayoko agreeing a move to RB Leipzig over a switch to the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest News reported that Forest were making progress in talks for Bakayoko, but the Belgian has picked the Bundesliga side over the City Ground in a blow to the club.
Moving on from Bakayoko, Forest have remained interested in Wissa, with the latest update on the Congolese forward providing Edu with some positive news in the hunt to add attacking firepower.

Positive Yoane Wissa latest for Nottingham Forest
Forest remain in talks to sign Wissa from Brentford, who is reportedly looking to leave the West London club, amidst an exodus of the club’s top talents as well as manager Thomas Frank.
Concerns were raised as Newcastle registered interest in Wissa, but according to The Athletic, Elanga’s new club won’t be pressing ahead to sign the 28-year-old anytime soon.
The report said: “Brentford’s Yoane Wissa was floated as a potential striker option to Newcastle, too, but as things stand they are not expected to make a move for the 28-year-old.”
MORE FOREST STORIES
Forest have already made a bid for Wissa this summer, deemed to be significantly below Brentford’s valuation of in excess of £50m.
The club will, of course, want to negotiate this price down, but given the lack of success in replacing Elanga so far, Forest cannot afford to be complacent on this deal.
Nottingham Forest must push on with a deal for Yoane Wissa
Given that Forest bid £22m for Wissa in January, it’s clear that the 28-year-old is incredibly fancied at the City Ground, to the point that the Reds should trust their judgement and push ahead for the versatile forward.
Brentford are being stubborn in negotiations for Bryan Mbeumo with Manchester United, so Forest will have to be patient with The Bees, but an increased bid should at least get Brentford to the negotiating table.

Wissa’s 24/25 season
The likes of Bakayoko have slipped away from Forest but Edu looks to have a clear run at Wissa, giving the new Global Head of Football the perfect chance to stamp his authority on the recruitment team and bring some positivity to the transfer window.
