Desire to pay €30m for Liverpool player – Reds holding out for €50m

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté hasn’t agreed to renew his contract beyond 2026, and is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid.

Los Blancos initially planned to sign the centre-back on a free transfer next year but the latest claims from Spain have stated they could consider a move this summer.

Mundo Deportivo report the 26-year-old has put his renewal at Liverpool on hold as he wants to join Real Madrid. The France international only wants to join the Spanish side, after they informed him of their interest to take him for free next summer.

Liverpool, on the other hand, want to avoid losing him for nothing. Therefore, the Premier League winners have made the former RB Leipzig man available in this market.

Mundo Deportivo believe Arne Slot’s side have leaked they are ready to sell the defender for €50m.

At this moment in time, Xabi Alonso’s side have no plans to sign a new centre-back in this window. If they do change their plans and decide to sign Konaté, Mundo state Real Madrid intend to offer €30m ‘at most’.

Should Los Blancos stick to their original plan, Liverpool risk losing the Frenchman for nothing in 2026.
