Burnley owner staying in Barcelona to manage new club – Hands on approach, planning more purchases

Burnley owner Alan Pace is planning to stay in Barcelona and run Espanyol this summer after adding them to his growing football network.

That’s [according to Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/espanyol/nuevo-propietario-espanyol-estudia-comprar-119705192), who report that he and his investment group also have their eye on Dundee in Scotland and aim to expand their holdings in future.

For now, the focus is on Espanyol and the group led by Pace have reached an agreement buy the Catalan club. Velocity Sport, which is the vehicle for the investment fund and controls Burnley, will also run Espanyol.

Pace made the purchase an absolute priority and Espanyol will become the parent club of the growing group of club. The plan is start investing in signings next summer once they have consolidated the club’s income level and, presumably, debts.

This summer will see them benefit from top level loan signings from Burnley. They are investing heavily after securing promotion to the Premier League last season and Sport says their spending will go beyond €100m.

Pace has already met with Espanyol’s executives and intends to practically reside in Barcelona to help the team grow. He will also control the transfer market until the end of August. Significant signings are expected as he and his team have analysed the wage cap carefully.

The focus is also on buying other clubs, though, and Pace intends to see through a purchase of Belgian side KV Kortrijk in Belgium. Their relegation to the second division had complicated things but it is likely to be seen through.

Velocity Sport value being in the Belgian market due to the production of youngsters from clubs there, who are being sold for big prices. He wants in on that as he expands his network from Burnley.
