Leeds United are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

With just over a month until the Premier League campaign gets underway, Leeds have failed to take advantage of the summer window as of yet.

Just four new arrivals have landed at Elland Road, with very few, if any of them, capable of getting Leeds fans in a state of optimism ahead of the new season.

The Whites still have a lot of work to do on the recruitment front, and it seems as though signing a new goalkeeper will be high up on their list of priorities.

Leeds board do not trust Illan Meslier

Leeds earned promotion in the end, though had it not been for a series of howlers from Illan Meslier, it certainly wouldn’t have gone down to the final few games of the season.

The Frenchman ended up being dropped from the latter stages of the campaign, with a report from Nieuwsbald (14 July) stating that the Leeds board are not convinced that Meslier has what it takes to play in the Premier League.

Meslier’s stats were made to look far better by the defensive foundation he had in front of him.

The Whites have already been linked with Aaron Ramsdale, among several other goalkeepers, and could be set to go head-to-head with Sunderland once again for the signature of Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp.

Lammens enjoyed a spectacular campaign in the Pro League and has already been linked with several English clubs, including Manchester United.

So far, around £30million has been spent, and while the finances used don’t determine your success, it certainly gives you a much better chance of surviving.

Leeds have a lot of work to be done between now and the start of the campaign, with several areas of the squad still needing attention.

With that said, the addition of a new number one has to be the priority for Leeds, or else they will immediately start the season on the back foot.
