Man United have been credited with interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
Ruben Amorim’s search for a new number nine is becoming more and more difficult as the season draws ever closer. The Red Devils have already lost out on Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea, and Viktor Gyokeres, who looks set to join Arsenal.
Newcastle make Hugo Ekitike bid
Seeing as the list of United’s potential striker targets seem to be getting shorter and shorter, the Red Devils will need to act quickly to ensure the same doesn’t happen with Ekitike, as Premier League rivals Newcastle are moving to sign the 22-year-old.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United has submitted an official bid to sign Ekitike, and negotiations are underway over a potential move to St James’ Park. Romano states that the offer is more than £60.8m, which was previously made by another club earlier in the summer.

If Ekitike were to join Newcastle, he would play alongside Swedish international Alexander Isak, in what would surely be one of the most dangerous front lines, not only in England, but in Europe.
If Man United want to sign Ekitike, they will need to swoop in quickly with an offer, and hope that the lure of playing at Old Trafford is enough to tempt Ekitike away from Newcastle, who can offer Champions League football.
Who could Man United turn their attention to?
As it seems that Newcastle are getting closer to a deal for the Frenchman, Man United may have to look at alternative targets. Watkins is a potential option, but the Red Devils would need to make a few sales to fund a deal for the England international. He is expected to cost at least £60m this summer after a £40m bid from Arsenal was rejected in January.
