The future of Scottish talent Lennon Miller is expected to become clearer in the next few days after talks between Motherwell and an interested club.

The midfielder has been linked with both Newcastle United and Sunderland, as the North East rivals keep tabs on the highly-rated 18-year-old.

Miller, who is out injured at the minute, has been watched by scouts from both clubs, as well as the likes of Leeds United, Liverpool and Lyon. However, it is Serie A side Como who are understood to be pushing to sign the 18-year-old Scotland international.

The teenager's dad, Lee Miller, who played for Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts and Scotland himself, believes his son will be on the move in the coming weeks.

"I think there will be a bid comes in, if not this week, maybe next week," he said. "There's a lot of talk behind the scenes and the clubs are speaking together and we'll see what happens."

Lennon Miller has played 76 times for Motherwell, scoring six goals. He finished the season by winning two international caps after a late call-up by Scotland boss Steve Clarke.

A number of Scottish players have moved to Italy to ply their trade, including Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Lewis Ferguson.

Asked if a move abroad was likely, Lee Miller replied: "Yeah, potentially. He's got ambition. He wants to play at the highest level possible.

"He had a great season last season, finishing off the season with two Scotland caps, which was tremendous. He wants to take it to another level and we'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

"He just wants to play football. He would've played in that game yesterday. He just wants to play football and enjoy it and that's what he does best."

Motherwell turned down several bids for the midfield dynamo in the January transfer window, but he now looks set to leave the SPL side this window.

Motherwell chief executive Brian Caldwell said in January: "We are not desperate to sell the player. We've always said, from day one, it's got to be right for Lennon, it's got to be right for the football club and we're not going to accept any kind of offer.

"Lennon Miller is statistically, I believe, in the top seven players in the world for his age for midfield players, so he's an exceptional talent - we all know that. And, if and when Lennon does move, it will be for the right price for us and it will be right for Lennon Miller at the same time."

Newcastle's new Head of Football Strategy Jack Ross has strong connections in the SPL and Newcastle have already raided Rangers for Oliver Goodbrand and Alfie Hutchison.
