West Ham have ‘sounded out’ defender amidst Tottenham interest – European giants also hold talks

Over the past few months, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Inter Milan have been linked with Genoa’s Koni De Winter.

Tuesday’s edition of Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen reports the defender had almost reached an agreement over personal terms with Inter, who are ahead of Thomas Frank’s side in the race.

It now seems as if the situation is far from settled as Gazzetta dello Sport have today denied talk of Inter being close to signing the versatile player.

They believe that while the Nerazzurri did speak to Genoa about De Winter yesterday, the move has not been finalised.

The newspaper claim Tottenham see the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero and have set their sights on the Belgian. West Ham have also ‘sounded out’ De Winter and have interest in signing him.

As of now, the Genoa star prefers to stay in Serie A but everything depends on how much Inter end up offering.

Tottenham and West Ham would around €25m to sign the Belgium international and if Inter fail to close a deal quickly, the two London sides would have a better chance of signing him.
