Brentford set to announce£400m takeover deal during Man United's Bryan Mbeumo saga

Brentford have remained stubborn in their negotiations over Bryan Mbeumo and a new takeover deal will only put more pressure on Manchester United.

Frustration is reaching a boiling point within the Manchester United fanbase when it comes to Bryan Mbeumo.

Talks for Mbeumo have lasted well over a month now, with Ineos unable to reach an agreement with Brentford for the 25-year-old.

United have had two Mbeumo bids rejected, and now the Bees are holding out for close to £70m having seen how the market has shifted this summer.

Latest reports suggest United are still not close to Mbeumo despite literal weeks of negotiations over the transfer. Now, a takeover twist could add to the ongoing saga.

Bryan Mbeumo deal could be affected by £400m takeover

Brentford have been forced to sell several of their best stars since returning to the Premier League, but that all could be about to change.

As per Sky News, Brentford owner Matthew Benham has clinched a deal to sell a minority stake in the club at a valuation of £400 million.

Around 25% of the club’s stakes are expected to change hands, with the deal set to be announced as early as Tuesday.

In late June, Brentford director Phil Giles insisted Mbeumo is “happy to stay” if a United deal collapses, and now the Bees could have a fresh injection of cash to help convince their star forward.

Mbeumo’s current contract expires in 2026, so Brentford will be eager to offer a bumper deal if a move to United continues to stall.

Man United are made to pay for slow transfer business

Head coach Ruben Amorim wanted business done quickly this summer after overseeing United’s worst-ever finish in the Premier League last season.

But the summer overhaul that was expected has not arrived. Instead, United are a month away from kicking off the 2025/26 campaign and the only signings made are Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

Even worse, United are yet to offload any of Amorim’s five unwanted players.

Ineos have been tunnel-visioned on Mbeumo, but the delays have frustrated the fanbase, who are all too familiar with this lack of urgency.

A Brentford takeover deal could completely shift the mood around the Mbeumo deal and United could yet miss out, having wasted around six weeks trying to secure his signature.
