One of the most famous attacking players in the world is now considered a “clear target” for Liverpool this summer, according to a fresh transfer claim.
It looks as though the Reds’ summer transfer business is still far from over, with at least one more addition expected in Arne Slot’s attack, with the likes of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike mentioned as leading options.
Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, with the Brazilian potentially looking for a move away from the club, having had the limelight taken away from him by Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo [via Sport Witness], the 24-year-old is “clear target” for the Reds, who have “set their sights” on him. He isn’t considered a key part of Xabi Alonso’s plans at Madrid.
It is also claimed that rivals Barcelona are keen for Rodrygo to seal a move to Liverpool, in order to pave the way for them to complete the signing of Luis Diaz.
Rodrygo a clear upgrade on Diaz for Liverpool
Diaz is an excellent footballer – one who played a key role in Liverpool winning the Premier League title – but he isn’t quite world-class in the same way that Sadio Mane was in a Reds shirt.
In Rodrygo, the Reds would be signing an upgrade on the Colombian, considering he is seen as one of the best wide forwards in world football, bagging 119 goal contributions in 270 appearances for Madrid, as well as being lauded by Jude Bellingham:
“Rodrygo, so underrated. For me he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad. The things he can do with the football – we’ll be messing around and he’ll flick the ball up somehow and you’re like, ‘How do you do that?’. I’m trying to do it, twisting up my ankles and everything like that. He’s a pleasure to play with.”
It does appear more likely that Liverpool want to keep hold of Diaz this summer, and Rodrygo could also prove to be too expensive for them. If the situation changes, though, the Brazil international could be an incredible signing.
