The Irishman joins the Toffees on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, reportedly £4million with add ons, after he failed to cement himself as the number one at AFC Bournemouth.
Travers’ best campaign at Dean Court came in the 2021/22 season, where he played 45 times and conceded just 39 goals, with 20 clean sheets, as the Cherries were promoted from the Championship.
Those clean sheets earned him the league’s golden glove, and performances saw him voted the Daily Echo/Micky Cave player of the season.
The 26-year-old has been on four loans since joining the Cherries in July 2016, the first to Dorset neighbours Weymouth in 2017, where he scored a remarkable goal on his debut.
He has also played for Swindon Town, Stoke City and most recently Middlesbrough last season.
When Travers made his Premier League debut, he became the 15th youngest goalkeeper to appear in the English top flight, aged 19 and 351 days in May 2019.
He made an immediate impact, pulling off a number of impressive saves as the Cherries beat Spurs 1-0, with Travers awarded the man of the match for his clean sheet and performance.
After going on loan to Swindon, Travers returned to fight for his place at Bournemouth, and cemented his spot as the club’s number one in the Championship for the 21/22 season.
But, with the club back in the Premier League, and despite signing a new five-year contract, Travers dropped back down the pecking order after the arrival of Neto.
The Irishman next went to Stoke on loan in the summer of 2023, although he was recalled in October after 14 appearances for the Potters following an injury to the Brazilian.
Into last season, Travers was Andoni Iraola’s number two, behind Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he impressed when called upon.
He starred in the 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, keeping the Cherries in the game before Ross Barkley’s goal 14 minutes from time, as Evanilson scored a dramatic equaliser.
Travers started the following week as Bournemouth beat Manchester City for the first time in their history and played both times against Chelsea, as well as against Everton in January.
But the lack of game time saw him head to Middlesbrough on loan for the second half of the season, playing 17 times in the summer.
The Cherries impending signing of Chelsea keeper Djordje Petrovic has seen Travers move on, joining David Moyes’ Everton.
In international football, Travers has made four appearances for the Republic of Ireland.
