Brentford line up replacement for Man United target Bryan Mbeumo as transfer talks heat up ahead of the summer window.
Omari Hutchinson on The Bees’ Radar
Brentford have reportedly started preparing for life after Bryan Mbeumo. The forward is being closely chased by Manchester United.
The Red Devils have made the winger their prime target. They want to boost Ruben Amorim’s attack following one of their worst ever Premier League campaigns. Utd have already tabled two bids of up to £60m for the player. Although, the Bees have stood firm so far.
However, things may shift soon. Reports suggest that Brentford are now eyeing Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement. Hutchinson, 21, was part of the England U21 squad that recently retained their European crown. He has shown great promise with Ipswich despite the club’s drop back to the Championship.
Brentford Prepare for Mbeumo’s Move to Man United
Brentford director Phil Giles believes there’s still a chance Mbeumo could stay next season. The club seems to be preparing for a different scenario. The Bees admire Hutchinson’s potential and may look to offer the former Chelsea player a quick return to the top flight.
So far, no official contact has been made with Ipswich Town. But, the player’s current situation makes a transfer very likely. At the same time, Man Utd are now progressing the pursuit of Mbeumo as priority signing. Although, they have been told there will be no deal unless they match Brentford’s £65m asking price.
The Red Devils are keen to refresh their attacking line. The current talks could see Mbeumo go to Old Trafford after all. Brentford could look to bring in a young talent like Hutchinson this transfer window. This will be a smart way to cushion the blow of losing one of their key players.
