West Ham United’s interest in Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton is a problem for Ajax, who also have him on their transfer list.
That’s [according to Soccer News](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/ajax-wordt-gek-na-telefoontje-arne-slot/), who cover the situation today and comments from Ajax based journalist Tim van Duijn from Voetbal International.
SN explain that Ajax wanted to approach Liverpool for Morton as a replacement for Jordan Henderson, who has left and joined Brentford. That’s confirmed by Van Duijn, who has insisted that the midfielder is on the Dutch club’s list of transfer options.
“The news about the Englishman is true. They’re following him, and he’s on the list. Should you buy him? He still has a one-year contract with Liverpool,” he said
The problem, is that any fee from Liverpool is likely to be ‘outrageously high’ and, the belief is that West Ham could afford that more comfortably than Ajax at this moment in time.
The Hammers have been thrown into the mix in reports in England, with it explained that they’ve got their eye on Harvey Ellott and Morton this summer after watching both impress in England’s Under-21’s success at the European Championship in Slovakia.
If that is the case, it appears Ajax fear losing out entirely, unable to compete with the sums that the West Ham would be able to offer Liverpool for their man.
