David Ornstein shares how much Liverpool want for Luis Diaz after rejecting official bid from Bayern Munich

Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future has been in question for some time now.

The attacker only has two years left on his deal, and with no signs of an extension coming anytime soon, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have both shown an interest in acquiring his services.

Since the transfer window opened at the start of June, rumours about Diaz’s future have circulated, with Barcelona even having their initial offer rebuffed.

And now, it seems like Bayern have followed suit as they’ve now made an official offer to the Reds for the 28-year-old.

Liverpool reject £58.5million bid for Luis Diaz from Bayern Munich

Bayern have been on the lookout for a new attacker to bolster their ranks ever since Leroy Sane chose to depart.

Diaz has always been one of their main targets, with The Athletic journalist David Ornstein now sharing that Liverpool have rejected a €67.5million (£58.5million) offer for him.

“Bayern Munich submit official bid to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool,” he wrote via his personal X account.

“Bayern Munich proposal worth €67.5m; rejected immediately today.

Liverpool should sell Luis Diaz if they don’t want to extend his contract

Even though Diaz was one of the Reds’ most important attackers last season, it doesn’t make sense for Liverpool to keep him for two years and then allow him to leave for nothing.

The attacker may have contributed to 25 goals across all competitions for Liverpool last term, but for the right price, it’d be worth them selling him.

Indeed, the £58.5million bid may be somewhat low, but if a bid closer to £70million came in, the Reds would be silly to turn it down, especially since Diaz now wants to leave.

Arne Slot already lost one of his star players for nothing last season, with Liverpool also well on their way to losing Ibrahima Konate for free at the end of the 2025-26 season.

And, while players leave on free transfers all the time, the fact that three of the Reds’ best players could exit for nothing in three years is poor.

So, unless Slot wants to offer him an extension, Liverpool should consider Bayern’s bid, that is, especially since they’ve already spent close to £200million on new players this summer.
