Just in: David Ornstein says Liverpool star has told club he wants to leave as CL side table…

Bayern Munich have tabled a formal £58.6m bid for Liverpool star Luis Diaz, and he has told the club he wants to leave, according to David Ornstein.

The Reds have been busy in the transfer market with four big first-team signings already completed, with Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez signing this summer and joining Giorgi Mamardashvili as new arrivals.

Now attentions have turned to departures, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah already moving on, and it now looks like they could be joined at the exit by a forward.

Diaz, who has been described as 'world-class', has been a key member of Arne Slot's side and helped the Reds to claim the Premier League title last season.

But as he enters the final two years of his contract at Anfield, the club have struggled to find an agreement on a new contract and the Colombia international is now looking to move on for a new challenge amid interest from European giants Bayern Munich.

According to Ornstein, Bayern have tabled a £58.6m bid for the 28-year-old winger but it was immediately rejected by Liverpool chiefs who have no intention of selling him. However, it's also stated that they value him more than £86m.

In a surprise twist, it has emerged that Diaz has told Liverpool chiefs that he wants to leave the club which will no doubt offer more encouragement to the Bundesliga champions in their bid to add him to Vincent Kompany's squad.

Liverpool are also expected to allow Darwin Nunez to leave this summer, while Harvey Elliott has been heavily linked with a move away too as he seeks more regular first-team football. There are also question marks over Federico Chiesa's future, which could mean that the Merseyside club are forced to re-enter the market to bulk up their attacking options following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota as well.
