Manchester United will receive a fee when Maxi Oyedele’s transfer to RC Strasbourg is completed.

Last summer, United sold Oyedele to Legia Warsaw and allowed the youngster to leave for a small initial fee, which included a future sell-on clause to ensure profit from further success.

Strasbourg have agreed a €6m (£5.2m) deal for Oyedele and United will bank €2.4m (£2.1m) courtesy of their 40 per cent sell-on clause.

Oyedele has gone from strength to strength since joining Legia Warsaw. The midfielder made 24 appearances last season and was rewarded with an international debut for Poland.

Salford-born Oyedele was previously eligible to play for England and Nigeria at international level.

Oyedele joined United's academy when he was eight years old, he progressed through the club's youth ranks and was eventually included in first-team training sessions at Carrington.

The 20-year-old appeared in all of the Under-18s' matches in their successful FA Youth Cup campaign in 2021/22 and played in the final of that competition against Nottingham Forest.

That team included the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who have established themselves in the first-team, but Oyedele left United without having made a senior bow.

The £2.1m United will receive from Oyedele's sell-on clause will top up the summer transfer kitty following boosts from the recent sales of Anthony Elanga and Alvaro Fernandez to Newcastle and Real Madrid respectively.

Fernandez has joined Madrid from Benfica in a €50m deal and United are entitled to a 15 per cent sell-on fee.

United are also due £5.5m from Elanga's move to St. James' Park from Nottingham Forest.
