Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz after missing out on Florian Wirtz to the Reds.

The former Porto attacker has just two years left on his contract, and there has been no sign of an extension.

Diaz has made clear to the club he wants to leave. He moved to Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37.5m, with the deal potentially rising to £50m with add-ons.

The Colombia international played an instrumental role for Arne Slot’s side as they clinched the Premier League title, scoring 13 goals in 36 appearances.

He has racked up 148 appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists across competitions.

According to The Athletic, Bayern submitted a formal proposal to sign Diaz from Liverpool.

The offer was worth €67.5million (£58.6m). However, it was immediately rejected by the Premier League champions, who value the 28-year-old at upwards of €100m.

Diaz has been strongly linked with a Liverpool exit in recent times, with Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia keen on the forward.

He recently provided an update on his future.

“It’s not known yet, we’re talking with the board. We’re comfortable with where I am, and we’ll have to see,” he told Colombian television station WinSports.

Diaz had earlier hinted that he was happy at Liverpool despite the ongoing speculation.

He told Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez: “We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”

Pushed on interest from Saudi side Al-Nassr, he added: “We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now.”
