The San Francisco 49ers find themselves in a similar situation to the one they were in just last offseason.
Niners wide receiver Jauan Jennings is [unhappy with his current contract](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45738954/sources-49ers-jauan-jennings-wants-new-deal-trade) and either wants a new pact or wants to be traded, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. Jennings is slated to earn $7.5 million in the final year of his deal, per Schefter.
“Jennings has approached the 49ers about his request, but little progress has been made, a source told ESPN,” Schefter wrote. “If a new deal is not reached by the time training camp starts next week, Jennings plans to request a trade to a team willing to pay him.”
The 49ers reportedly believe they have treated Jennings fairly. They signed the pass-catcher to a two-year, $15.4 million extension last offseason.
The 28-year-old is coming off a 2024 campaign in which he recorded career highs in receptions (77), yards (975) and touchdowns (6). His numbers last season were more than double his previous career-bests in receptions and yards.

Teams who could use a boost to their receiver room, like the New England Patriots, might keep a close eye on the Bay Area buzz. Because while the Patriots have a number of wide receivers in the room, Jennings is coming off a season far better than anyone in New England.
