Manchester United have made “initial contact” with the representatives of Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso, according to reports in France.
L’Equipe claims that the Red Devils will still need to convince Lyon to sell the 30-year-old, as the Ligue One side want to build their team around him.
Tolisso was first linked with a switch to Old Trafford back in the 2020 summer transfer window when he was still at Bayern Munich. At the time, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Napoli, Juventus and Atletico Madrid were also mentuoned as potential suitors for the player.

L’Equipe report that, much like United, Atletico have retained their interest, while a move to Saudi Arabia cannot be ruled out either.
Tolisso’s price tag makes him an attractive target
As supporters will be well aware, United are not exactly flush with cash at the moment, so Director of Football Jason Wilcox is having to play smart in the transfer market.
Despite Lyon’s reluctance to sell Tolisso, it is believed a fee in the region of €10m (£8.7m) could be accepted. The Frenchman would, therefore, be an economical solution to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s options in the middle of the park. It would also allow the club to devote most of their resources to signing players in other positions that require strengthening.
Man United are still hoping to sign two forwards
The Red Devils remain in talks with Brentford about a deal for Bryan Mbeumo. However, the two sides are believed to be £7m apart in their respective valuations. The Athletic claims that the Bees want £70m, while Amorim’s side’s second bid only reached £62.5m.
A new striker is also among the club’s top priorities. Speculation about a move for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has begun to intensify over the past week, although some fans would be dead against an approach for the Senegalese international.
