Darwin Nunez is attracting significant attention from clubs abroad as Liverpool have reportedly received a £52million bid from AC Milan for the striker.

The Premier League champions have also been approached by sides in Saudi Pro League for the forward, who has netted 25 goals and provided 16 assists in 95 Premier League appearances, but found himself a peripheral figure at Anfield under manager Arne Slot last season, who is eyeing new additions in attack this summer transfer window.

Al Hilal are said to be prepared to shift their focus to the Uruguayan international if their attempt to secure Victor Osimhen falls through this summer. New manager Simeone Inzaghi is believed to be urging his club to pursue the former Benfica star, should their move for the Nigerian fail, according to reports in Riyadh.

The Saudi Pro League team, who have already signed Theo Hernandez from Milan this summer, resumed their negotiations with Osimhen after their initial proposal was turned down.

Al Hilal managed to reach preliminary terms with Napoli prior to the Club World Cup. However, Osimhen declined a deal worth £34.8m annually on that occasion.

This leaves the door open for a potential move for Nunez, who appears set to leave Anfield. The Reds are reportedly willing to accept a loss on their striker, allowing him to depart for £70m - having signed him for £85m in 2022, reports the Mirror.

Italian side Napoli could yet pose the biggest challenge to Al Hilal for Darwin's signature. Antonio Conte's team have been consistently linked with the South American star.

However, reports in Saudi suggest it's the Rossoneri who have made the most recent offer to Liverpool. The 26-year-old forward netted a goal in Liverpool's 3-1 pre-season victory against Preston on Sunday.

He seized on a mistake in defence and rounded the goalkeeper to score, before performing two of his tragic team-mate Diogo Jota's trademark celebrations in tribute to the Portuguese star, who died aged 28 in a car crash on July 3.

Liverpool have been associated with several potential replacements for Nunez. The most recent rumour suggests that talks are in progress for a possible transfer of Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

It's reported the Frenchman's agents have met with Liverpool bosses in Paris. Mateta found the back of the net 14 times for the Eagles last season, aiding the club in their FA Cup triumph.

Mateta, who has two years remaining on his contract, has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United. Amid the speculation surrounding the Red Devils, a transfer fee between £40m and £50m has been suggested.
