Wolverhampton Wanderers may need to move quickly if they wish to sign Zakaria El Ouahdi from KRC Genk, with other suitors submitting contract offers to the 23-year-old.
Voetbal Primeur cover the situation around the defender today, explaining that El Ouahadi is increasingly being linked with a departure from the Belgian club.
He’s been named as a player who can depart this summer, although Genk would prefer not to sanction a sale if they can avoid it. El Ouahadi is also open to staying, but foreign interest is growing.
Several sides in Europe are believed to be keen and Wolves are one of them as they look to bolster Vitor Pereira’s options. They need a replacement for Nélson Semedo, who has departed on a free transfer.
They may need to move quickly for El Ouahadi, though, as Stade Rennes and VfL Wolfsburg have now held discussions with his entourage. In fact, according to journalist Santi Aouna, they have submitted contract proposals to the right-back.
Discussions with the player and his team are now ongoing because of that. Genk, for their part have set a €12m asking price on the player. That’s a price neither of those sides are willing to pay as yet.
They are progressing their interest and Wolves need to move quickly if El Ouahadi is the man they’d like to sign this summer.
