Liverpool have rejected a £58.6m bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz.

The Reds received the offer from the Bundesliga champions on Tuesday but it was immediately rebuffed. Diaz, 28, is understood to be interested in making the move but Liverpool do not want to sell the Colombia winger.

The club value him in excess of £86m (€100m) but remain steadfast that he is not for sale and they’re not putting a price on him.

The feeling is the market this summer for an attacking midfielder was set by Saudi interest in Bruno Fernandes, who valued the Manchester United captain at £86m and he is also two years older than Diaz.

It is not known yet if Bayern will bid again but Liverpool are not interested in negotiations.

They are aware that the player is open to leaving but no suitable offers have been made for the player since he joined the club.

Liverpool have told Diaz he remains an important player for the club for the upcoming season and the remainder of his contract. Diaz is under contract until 2027 and Liverpool currently have no plans to extend that for now.

But they do not want to sell and won’t look to offload him before his deal runs out.

Boss Arne Slot wants him as part of his squad as they prepare to fight on four fronts and defend their Premier League crown. Slot is also looking to bolster his attacking line, with Liverpool linked to numerous strikers this window.

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37.5m, with the deal potentially rising to £50m with add-ons.

He has since made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists in all competitions - including 13 goals last season as Slot's side won the Premier League.
