Manchester City have already bid farewell to some long-serving players this summer.

Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker – who can boast 422 and 319 appearances for Manchester City respectively – have departed the Etihad Stadium, while the popular Scott Carson also left after six years with the Citizens.

Now, another senior player could follow as Galatasaray make an approach to sign Ederson.

Ederson willing to join Galatasaray

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu now states that Galatasaray have enquired about the Brazil international’s situation at the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson has already entered the final 12 months of his contract, which expires in June 2026.

The reliable Sabuncuoglu adds that the Manchester City No.31 is open to moving to Istanbul this summer if his wage demands are met by the Super Lig outfit.

Ederson earns £100,000-a-week under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City like Diogo Costa of Porto – and have already spoken to his representatives – while Hugo Viana has also been monitoring Gianluigi Donnarumma amid a contract dispute at PSG, so it does sound as if the Citizens are ready to deal with the situation if Ederson suddenly departs.

Galatasaray also trying to sign another Manchester City player

Ederson is not the only Manchester City star on the agenda in Turkey.

Sabuncuoglu has already stated that Galatasaray are hoping to sign Ilkay Gundogan this summer, and the Manchester City No.19 is also open to joining the Turkish giants, as his parents are believed to have grown up in Istanbul and support the club.

The 34-year-old also sees his contract expire in less than 12 months, so Manchester City have a decision to make on whether they would rather keep the duo but lose them for free in 2026, or cash in and receive a fee now.

Gundogan even flew to Turkey to speak to Galatasaray, so there seems to be something in this particular transfer story.

Should Guardiola sanction exits for the duo, it would leave a seismic hole in his squad in terms of experience, which may not be helpful after a difficult 2024/25 campaign which ended without silverware.
